Bhubaneswar: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed that he declined an invitation from US President Donald Trump to visit Washington, stating that he prioritized his visit to “the land of Mahaprabhu,” referring to Lord Jagannath’s Odisha.
Speaking at a public event to mark one year of BJP governance in Odisha, Modi shared:
“While I was in Canada for the G7 Summit, President Trump called and invited me to Washington for discussions and a shared meal. I thanked him and respectfully told him that visiting the land of Mahaprabhu was more important to me.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that the love of the people of Odisha and his devotion to Lord Jagannath brought him to the state.
During his visit, he also unveiled and inaugurated development projects worth ₹19,000 crore.
